Hi,
I like ur idea lots, good on you for putting it together. I'm trying to get it working. Both addins installed (adblock and addart). Addblock I added a couple of subscriptions and a couple of my own filters, all seems ok.
But where the adverts are blocked from there is no art. I looked at the addin list and the addart "options" button is greyed out.
Have I done something wrong?

Hi - There currently aren't any options for add-art. It just does it's thing. As we get suggestions for things that people need as options we can start adding them.
You might have noscript extension installed - add-art doesn't play well with that since we use javascript to do the add-art replacement.
otherwise it might help if you can tell us what firefox you've got installed and what extensions.

Hey I got back from work and its all good, its working. I didn't change anything (and had stopped and restarted it earlier so that wouldn't have been it).
Strange strange.
This is excellent, well done and thanks. I can't stop smiling each time I see art replacing the adverts.
same here: ads blocked fine, but no art... :-(
I did remove Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper 1.0.4+.2008051609, you can see the rest of my extensions on my page.
I tried disabling every other extension except for ABP and add-art, yet still I can see no art... Such a great idea, pity I cannot enjoy it.

I've got add-art but mostly it doesn't work.
I guess a lot of that is just not playing nicely with NoScript, but even on sites where NoScripts shouldn't be blocking anything, I mostly see
<SPAN>< A ><DIV><img src="chrome://addart/skin/4artbanner88x31.jpg" />
and when I do see art, it always seems to be the same picture.
Ok, I had a thought about this.
The process of getting art on your page is two-fold:
While AdBlockPlus blocks nearly everything it's important to note that Add-Art does not swap every blocked image. (We're working on that)
So, what could be happening here is that Add-Art is working, but not on the pages you're looking at. In other words, on that page all the ads are removed, but nothing is being swapped.
To test, here's some sites that have massive ads on them, that get swapped for me, that you can use to test. You might not get exactly the same results, but you should see art.
If you're not seeing art anywhere on these 3 sites, then we know AdBlockPlus or Add-Art are not active for some reason. And we can help you with that.

It seems to work for those sites (give or take the NoScript interactions).
On the listening post blog, I saw "<SPAN>< A ><DIV><img src="chrome://addart/skin/4artbanner88x31.jpg" />" all over it with NoScript active. When I disabled NoScript, I got the art, which suggests that the main problem is NoScript.
I played with one of the sites that was causing problems (http://www.theregister.co.uk/) and I found that if I had doubleclick.net blocked in NoScript I saw those tags, but if I unblocked it I don't see tags, but I also don't see art?
It seems therefore to be a problem with the NoScript interaction.
Most ads these days are inserted with javascript. Allowing DoubleClick and Google ad scripts should show you *tons* more art.

I'm not really understanding the interactions here.
If the javaScript is downloaded from the main site then it's not blocked by NoScript and shouldn't need doubleclick to be enabled.
If the javaScript is downloaded from doubleclick then abp should block it and add-art should replace it with the art.
I don't see why I'm required to enable JavaScript from doubleclick. I guess I'm missing something obviously, but I just don't get it?

You will see the same art on a specific url everytime. Pages on different domains will be different. We do this so you'll see the same body of work on a page instead of a random mix of every body of work available.

I see the point about not mixing randomly but
1) if it's based on domains rather thatn pages it can get pretty monotonous when you spend a lot of time on the same sites
2) When a page has half a dozen (or more) ads and they're all the same, it's a bit odd. A nice feature would be to have it display different parts of the image. I don't know if that's possible?

I understand. We're working with two pieces of software, Firefox and AdBlockPlus, and both are not intended to do what we're doing. There's a lot of limitations we're working with. However, we're early with this and planning lots of improvements. Hi steve, I`m from Brasil and really like this moviment form add-art.
But Im still trying install the software Add-art and havent had sucsses.
My firefox says: the add-art-package 0.7.0 doesn`t be installed because it is incompatible with Firefox 3.0.1.
What should I do to install the program?

It doesn't work with 3.01. We're hoping to solve that. In the meantime you can download Firefox 2 here - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
update - it does work with firefox 3 now
