enter about:config into the url (no http, no www, just about:config)

filter for add-art

under showUpdateAlert set it to false

I'm not sure if this option will be remembered when the plugin is updated, but you should be set for a while

Yep, it happens only once every two weeks and seems pretty innocuous. Not intrusive at all. Also, I like being able to go the add-art site to check out the current show before the new art appears on Web pages. Just my two cents.

I may be confusing the way general users use their browser with how I use mine. For example, I'm currently at over 9 days of uptime on my laptop. I could very well go days without restarting Firefox.

Also, one of the issues I've heard on these boards is people want the art to change more often.

I also imagine that people do look forward to seeing add-art and check to see what's new when it's updated. But there's no way for me to know that. Hm.

Still, the dialogue comes up only every two weeks.

You might be right. This is fairly subjective, perhaps it could be solved with a poll of users. I will ask the other developers what they think as well.

That the new art is not directly actively used by the browser is not important. When the browser gets restarted, whenever that may be and you view a website that has advertisements you may notice the change. The most common reaction of users will not be "add-art is updated? Great, let's restart the browser and go look to some website with adds." The will see it when the see it if the notice it at all. People are trained to ignore adds.

I would also be very surprised if a relevant large group of people does not restarts there browser every day or every few days or even is able to not let it crash for several days.

Sorry, I am not able to make a patch for an option in the GUI.

New shows are issued every two weeks and it comes up once. Right now, you need to restart to see the new art. I suppose the notification could be disabled, and in future versions we could work out a way to do that. But I think more users would be upset that the same art showed up on their browser for too long because they didn't know to restart.

If you know how to change the code to include an interface to set an option and want to submit a patch, let me know.

I do not know how often I get that but is more the once every two weeks. If it was up to me I would not include that notification function. I see no reason for it to exist. But if it must exist i would like an option to disable it.
