The real solution is what I'm always talking about here, which is creating a way to subscribe to feeds of images. We need code development for that...

Hey,
Really enjoying add-art - thanks! One small complaint - when y'all send out the new images it triggers a drop-down alert telling me that it's happened. That's fine, but I have Firefox set up to open up multiple windows when I launch it and I"m getting a drop-down on every window. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying. Maybe you could set it up like most other FF addons so it opens up a tab in one of the windows instead of the multiple drop-downs?
I'm on a Mac, 10.4.11, FF 3.0.10
Thanks!

wow, you got the settings and everything.

Ok going into detail on how to force add-art to load the latest art for everyone else. Note, you don't need to do this. Add-Art updates automatically every two weeks. It's just for those that want to to get rid of the black boxes or for troubleshooting or impatient reasons.

Black boxes come with the update for boring technical reasons. here's what you need to do.

1. enter "about:config" without the quotes as your url (no http blah blah, just about:config) and hit enter

2. Next to filter, type add-art

3. Then:
Set currentImageSet=1
Set expiration=1
by double clicking on the settings

4. Open a new window. (Like File > New Window)

5. It will take a little time, but add-art will download the latest show in the background. You'll get the restart notice and then, after you restart, you should be set!

I'm marking this as resolved, but let me know if you have any trouble.

Things seem to have been changing for me too!
This time most of the ads have an image installed in there...
Even on the addresses I added myself to adblock.

Just a few don't work- for example on amazon.com- I get the broken image icon, even though I can see the url of the addart image when I copy the address.

But on amazon.co.uk I get the addart image...

In general it seems like most of the time the images are coming up now and it looks great- more subtle than I imagined it, the Valie Export pictures look very mysterious...

Thanks for your help!

Linda,

Add-Art replaces *most* ads, but not all of them. The ones we can't catch go white, as they would with just Ad-Block Plus. Scripts based ads are some of those.

Some of the images in the new show are pixelated, yes.

Sounds like your install is back to normal. What happened was that I left a set of images that ended in .gif instead of .jpg on the server. The plugin was downloading those instead of the correct set. I had found the mistake and corrected it, but missed it on the server. Whoops.

Now, those with broken images, I'd like to solve that one. Anyone still having that problem?

Hi Steve,

I am seeing the new art now. However, this is strange, SOME ads have only white space. I'm not sure if it was always like this because there's really no easy way to tell just by looking in Firefox. I just checked in IE, however, and I can see where there are more ads that aren't being replaced by art in Firefox. (Just white space, no "block" tags or anything else. But if I rest my mouse cursor over them, I see the "artbanner" tooltip.) You know what, some of them are "ads by Google" in IE.

On another note, a lot of the new images look very pixelated -- I'm guessing that the curator just submitted them that way?

Thanks,
